We, so often in life, serve as mirrors for one another. We look to our relatives to find out whether we are loveable, look to others to see if we are capable of being loved. We want to know we carry an innate radiance within ourselves. And what a tremendous gift, to enable someone’s return to the awareness of their own loveliness.
When we see the goodness in others, we enable them to ‘flower from within’, and of self-blessings. This is what ‘Metta’ is all about, really. It’s the reteaching of loveliness to all we come in contact with. I cannot write too much on Metta because I am not the best practitioner of the art. Here is something I found recently that I hope you will enjoy.
Creativity — for me — that’s where the power is, that’s where the healing is. Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, to make something that is beautiful and not destructive, or to make something that is useful and not destructive, that’s the healing power of the artist.
we live in a culture that bombards us with destructive images that are killing us
…
I think creativity and imagination are so important! It isn’t just the destructive images, but a lack of toys that foster creativity and imagination. Video games and movies don’t inspire like toys that allow kids to build new things — the world is mostly delivered to them in nice, neat packages.

you are so right. the massive use of iphones and ipads has become destructive in every branch of human life. I am staying in an ashram, and would you guess, YES, people are walking around with iphones and often using them during sacred singing… How naff is that… Eve

at the moment i am using the hotel’s old computer – way back in the broom cupboard – dirty and dusty and hot… It is over 40 degrees… I hate touching this old well used dirty computer but i do not have those smart toys to play with. 😦 (Thanks for comment.) Eve

Pretty naff, I’d say! But not surprising. According to some surveys I’ve read about, people would give up shoes or sex before they’d give up their phones.
