O My Heart – Myth And Legend

aheartnnamedgold

Our thoughts are powerful, and just like the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul said and I quote  here: “The average man is often the victim of his own thought forms. He constructs them, but is neither strong enough to send them out to do their work, nor wise enough to dissipate them when required. This has brought about the thick swirling fog of half-formed, semi-vitalized forms in which eighty five percent of the human race is surrounded.”

There is an ancient image of the heart and its function that likens it to the way a sound arises from an underground cave. To an older way of thinking, thought begins below in our hearts.  Then ascends to our brains, where it brings insight and intelligence to our awareness. Silence is a requirement. When our thoughts has collected sufficiently, they are ready to be carried outward, in words. Only then do our voices call to express what  needs saying as it was meant. Then, we speak truly. Our words are heartfelt. All is well, we hope.

That The Heart No Longer Moves – Sufi Tale

Long ago, in Andalusia, a Sufi merchant awaited the arrival of his shipment of goods. A messenger came running to inform him of a great mishap – the boat had sunk, carrying the livelihoods of many to the bottom of the ocean. Upon receiving the news, the merchant paused, cast his eyes downward, and softly said, “Praise be to God – AlhamduliLah.”

Some weeks later, the messenger joyfully appear at the merchant’s door.

..

“O Merchant,” he cried out. “Your goods arrived safely and are at this very moment being unloaded on the dock. The ship did not sink after all!”

..

At this the merchant again lowered his gaze and murmured, “All praise is due to God.” The messenger inquired, “What is this pausing and lowering of your gaze?” The merchant replied, “In both cases, I was checking to make sure my heart didn’t move.”

To end on a wise quotation from the Peaceful Warrior.

“You haven’t yet opened your heart fully, to life, to each moment. The peaceful warrior’s way is not about invulnerability, but absolute vulnerability–to the world, to life, and to the Presence you felt. All along I’ve shown you by example that a warrior’s life is not about imagined perfection or victory; it is about love. Love is a warrior’s sword; wherever it cuts, it gives life, not death.” – Dan Millman

Good Thoughts, Good Habits, Good Death – Anandamayi Ma

On Dying:

Anandamayi Ma’s attitude towards death is far removed from ours.  As she says, “The pilgrim on the path of immortality never contemplates death. By meditation on the Immortal, the Divine, the fear of death recedes far away.  It will serve us well to remember that  In the measure that our contemplation of the One becomes uninterrupted, we will advance towards full, unbroken realization.”

Man’s spiritual evolution is greatly affected by the thoughts he harbours at the time of death. “Just as a leech does not leave its place without hooking on to something else, so the soul at the time of leaving the body hooks on to some kind of new existence according to the state of mind of the dying person.”

Let no one conclude, however, that he can live according to his whims, indulging in sense pleasures oblivious to God, and that at the moment of death he will be able to catapult himself into the Divine presence by thinking the right thoughts. This is a miscalculation, for man is a creature of habit and therefore at death his mind will dwell on those thoughts that have occupied him most during his life.

To substantiate this point Anandamayi Ma told  the story of a greedy old woman, an oil vendor, who lay upon her death bed. All her life she had sold oil in the bazaar. At no time had she granted anyone credit, and never had she given away even the smallest quantity of oil. When beggars asked her for oil, she used to reply: “Not a drop will I give, not a drop.” While she was on the verge of dying, her relatives, concerned about her spiritual welfare, tried, to make her repeat “Rama” or “Krsna,” but all she was capable of uttering was: “Not a drop will I give, not a drop.” This had become her mantra.

This account is meant to show that man’s day-to-day thoughts and activities throughout his life determine his state of consciousness and his spiritual destiny.

Daskalos on Thought Forms

Every thought, emotion and desire creates and transmits an elemental – also called thought-form – that carries on an existence of its own. We create and regenerate two types of elementals. When negative emotion prevails over thought, we have created emotional thought-forms, or desire-thoughts. When our ideas, desires and emotions pass through reason and love, we create reasoned thought-forms, or thought-desires. An elemental can never be destroyed, only disenergized (when no longer fed with etheric vitality). Elementals of a kind collect to form powerful group elementals. If an individual, or a collection of individuals, are vibrating at the same frequency, they will attract such group elementals. Archangels also create elementals (e.g. nature spirits and angels) in the service of the Divine Plan.

The good and Evil Actions Of Man Affect the Harmonious Balance Of The Earth.

  Excerpted from The Divine Romance – Sri. Yogananda

“God has given man the power of destruction as well as the power of creation. We have made the world beautiful, and we have the power to destroy it. When we desecrate the world, the environment undergoes a violent change, which is called partial dissolution. Such upheavals have occurred many times, one example is Noah’s flood. These partial dissolutions are due to the wrong actions and ignorant errors of mankind. Don’t think “the happenings” of this world are going on automatically without God’s knowledge. And don’t think that man’s actions have no effect on the operation of His cosmic laws. Everything that has happened throughout the ages is recorded in the ether. The vibrations of evil that mankind leaves in the ether upset the normal harmonious balance of the earth. When the earth becomes very heavy with disease and evil, these etheric disturbances cause the world to give way to earthquakes, floods, and other natural disasters.”

It is the same as when you live wrongly for a long time; various in harmonies begin to manifest in your body, as well as certain diseases. Disease is not a punishment. It is a poison that you yourself create in the body, and the Divine wants you to get rid of it. But all too often, by the time you try to throw it off, the body has become completely deranged, and you die. So, just like the human body, the earth suffers from inharmonious disturbances and disease. And it is because the combined actions of the people all over the world affect the planet on which we live. There is no question about it. The good and bad karmic conditions created by man determine and influence the climate;  they affect the wind and the ocean, even the very structure of the earth,  sometimes causing earthquakes. All the hatred, the anger, the evil we send out into the world, and the agony and rebellion they  cause, all these are disturbing the magnetic force of the earth, like static in the ether.

In a profound sense every man has two halves to his being; he is not one person so much as two persons trying to act in unison.  I believe that in the heart of each human being there is something which I can only describe as a “child of darkness” who is equal and complementary to the more obvious “child of light.”  ~Laurens van der Post

But the beginning of things, of a world especially, is necessarily  vague, chaotic, and exceedingly disturbing. How few of us ever emerge from such beginning! How many souls perish in its tumult! – Kate Chopin

Those Of Us Who Experienced Baba’s Love – Sathya Sai Memories Cont.

Whenever I meditate deeply on Baba, I invariably find myself uplifted into infinitely expansive blissful Love; and daily, in His presence, there is a palpable deepening into the awesome silence of the Self.  Even on rough days – when I’ve cut my neck shaving and I’ve got diarrhea again and I’ve splattered mud on my new white pants and the rickshaw driver’s hit the speed bump at 30 kilometres-per-hour making my head bang on the rickshaw roof and I’ve cursed loudly just before arriving at the ashram – even then, there’s always a dose of bliss and peace from my Baba’s darshan.  I never cease to be amazed – what a Master He is!

Those of us who have experienced Baba’s Love and omniscient guidance, and seen the profound transformations brought about in our lives by His grace, can only bow in gratitude, and do our best to love Him and serve Him and worship Him within all.  For Sai Baba is not a man; for me, He fully embodies the all-pervading God of Love (with a great sense of humor) who awakened me many years ago.  I believe it can even be misleading to call Him “an incarnation of God” – for He is not that afro-crowned body in the orange robe giving darshan, the Guru who took birth in Puttaparthi.  No.  He is the all-pervading Ocean of Consciousness, the Substratum and Creator of all universes!  That ochre-clad body we see before us is but a wave on the shoreless, all-encompassing Sea of Satchidananda, who Sai Baba is.   In His words:

“I am neither Guru nor God.
I am You; You are I; that is the truth.
There is no distinction.
The appearance of differences is the delusion.
You are waves; I am the ocean.

Our World Is But A Looking Glass – Inspirational Quotations

Hey! Looking At You!

Mind is the master power that molds and makes,
And we are Mind, and evermore we take
The tool of thought, and shaping what we will,
Bring forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills,
We think in secret, and it comes to pass –
Our world is but our looking glass.
— James Allen

This short and inspiring poem contains a world of wisdom within its few short sentences. It serves as a powerful reminder  that we are what our thoughts. What we consistently and persist in thinking, be it good or bad, sooner or later our thoughts will manifest into reality. May you always think about the other, because their joy or pain could be in your hands……..

“You may control a mad elephant;
You may shut the mouth of the bear and the tiger;
Ride the lion and play with the cobra;
By alchemy you may learn your livelihood;
You may wander through the universe incognito;
Make vassals of the gods; be ever youthful;
You may walk in water and live in fire;
But control of the mind is better and more difficult.”

Our Thoughts Are Powerful – Daskalos

Powerful Thought Forms

“The average man is often the victim of his own thought forms. He constructs them, but is neither strong enough to send them out to do their work, nor wise enough to dissipate them when required. This has brought about the thick swirling fog of half-formed, semi-vitalized forms in which eighty five percent of the human race is surrounded.”

-Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul

We are our thoughts made manifest. We, today,  are controlled by fear. Fear is the thought form that feeds today’s world. We are fed fear from the television news, newspapers, and from  corporations,  corrupt govs. and other governing bodies.  What is fear doing?  It  is taking  away our freedom and our will-power to reach the highest we can. We have largely closed our hearts to love in order to survive in a world where only material objects give us monumentality satisfaction. How long can this planet survive such manipulation? I don’t feel we can continue this senseless existence much longer.

We all  need to find again the benevolent  heart of our creation.  There is truth and it is our truth. The truth that each of us carry without our own power source, stored deep within our spiritual hearts.We only need to reconnect once more.

This part of the  universe was rendered fertile and capable of receiving and preserving exquisite  life forms. If we had been allowed to evolve as nature intended, we would have by now evolved  in to a highly advanced race on a blossoming planet.

All our desires, weaknesses, strengths, habitual ways of thinking and behaving create or re-energize elementals.  These come to form our personality and define our character.  It is this personality full of conflicting ideas, feelings and thoughts that we sadly mistake as our real Self.  This personality self is at best a weak shadow of our Real Self cast on the unequal ground of duality.  But to really know and experience this truth, we must shift our sense of identity from our shadow-self to our Real Spirit-Soul Self.  To do this means we must gain mastery over our thoughts and emotions – the elementals we create and re-energize.  Mastering our undesirable emotions and weaknesses does not mean fighting against them and suppressing them with force.  Mastering our emotions and desires means gaining control of them, becoming their master and not their slave.

An elemental has an existence, a life and purpose of its own.  For anything to exist it needs a form.  When we have a desire for an object, for example a type of car, we are creating an elemental, which is getting a form.  In this example, the form of the elemental takes the shape and color of the specific car we desire.  It first forms on our etheric double at the location of the so-called third eye.  At this point before it is projected it is very small in size – the size of the head of a pin.  Yet imprinted in it are all the details we know about the car we desire.  After we project it consciously or subconsciously it tends to take the full size of the object we desire.   All this is visible to a well developed clairvoyant.

These elementals are created through our etheric doubles.  They are composed of etheric substance in varying degrees of purity, accuracy and strength.  Once projected out from us they work to achieve their purpose – to bring about the conditions to manifest the desired object or effect we created them for.

When we harbor and express negative emotions such as despair, jealousy, fear or hatred we create elementals which also get a form.  What form are these destructive elementals getting?   They get the shapes of snakes, beasts and other distressing forms.  They get this form according to the quality of the desires and thought which created them.  Their forms and their colors reveal their natures.  It is really merciful that people can not see the forms of the destructive elementals as it would terrify them.  It may take a clairvoyant to see these forms but anyone can feel them.   If you approach a person you know well and they are having strong negative emotions and thoughts for you it is not difficult to feel this.   Likewise when we are around a loving friend or companion we truly can feel their love for us.

So our good or bad thoughts and emotions are continually creating, or more commonly, re-energizing pre-existing elementals.  It is our choice which ones we attend to and give expression. Thus we are responsible for our own unique set of elementals and their effect on ourselves and those around us.   When an elemental is created it forms on our etheric doubles and is projected out into the common environment.   We literally live in a sea of these etheric sub-spirits.
